Roamer – A Roamer is a free-spirited feral cat that does not remain tied to a single feeding station, colony, or location. These cats are often spotted at irregular intervals, appearing one day and vanishing for several, only to reappear again elsewhere. Roamers may cover wide territories and tend to follow food trails, seasonal patterns, or instinctual wandering behaviors. While they may still recognize caregivers, their elusive nature makes consistent care and tracking more challenging.
Single – A Single is a solitary feral cat that prefers to remain alone rather than interact with a group or colony. Unlike Roamers, Singles often stay near one location but choose independence over companionship, keeping a respectful distance even from other cats. They may be shy or simply content in their own space, displaying minimal social interaction but still developing bonds with individual caregivers over time. These cats often thrive when given space, predictability, and quiet respect.
Resident – A Resident is a rooted member of a feral colony or fixed feeding station, showing up regularly and calling that spot home. These cats are well-established in their territory, often arriving on a reliable schedule and displaying familiarity with both caregivers and fellow colony members. Residents form the core of long-term TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) efforts, and their predictability makes them easier to monitor for health and safety. They may form close-knit social bonds with other cats and occasionally with humans too.
