August 2026 brought wonderful news for Cat Action Team and everyone who supports our work with Cape Town’s feral cats.
In early August, Cat Action Team was nominated for the Feral Feeder Cape Town initiative hosted by Good Cause. The nomination recognised the dedication of the organisations and individuals who work tirelessly to feed, protect and care for feral cats throughout the city. Nominations officially closed on 18 August 2026, leaving us deeply grateful simply to have been considered. Being nominated was already a meaningful acknowledgement of the work carried out by our volunteers, foster carers, feeders, donors and supporters.
Then, on 28 August 2026, Good Cause announced the wonderful result: Cat Action Team had won!
Recognition for a Team That Keeps Showing Up
Good Cause described Cat Action Team as an organisation that stood out among many deserving groups doing important work for feral cats.
Our work is powered by people who continue to show up. They keep feeding, caring and watching over vulnerable cats, even when their efforts take place quietly and go unseen by the wider public. Feral cat care is not a once-off act of kindness. It requires ongoing commitment, patience and compassion. Cats must be fed regularly, colonies must be monitored, injured animals need veterinary treatment, and new cats must be assessed for sterilisation or other assistance. Much of this work takes place early in the morning, late at night and in difficult conditions. Our volunteers continue because the cats depend on them.
A Victory Shared by Our Community
This achievement belongs to every person who has contributed to Cat Action Team’s mission.
It belongs to the feeders who make their rounds faithfully, the volunteers who give their time, the foster carers who open their homes, and the supporters who donate food, funds and essential supplies. It also belongs to every person who shared our nomination, voted for us and encouraged others to support our work. Every contribution, whether large or small, helps us place more food into hungry bowls and provide care to cats that might otherwise be forgotten. Winning the Feral Feeder Cape Town initiative is more than an award. It is a reminder that feral cats matter and that compassionate community action can make a lasting difference.
Support From Good Cause
As part of this recognition, Good Cause pledged its support for the work of Cat Action Team. This assistance will help us place more food into the bowls of feral cats who depend on their caregivers every day. We are sincerely grateful to Good Cause for recognising the importance of feral cat welfare and for using its platform to support organisations working directly within their communities. Their announcement also promised that more exciting news would follow, making this an especially hopeful moment for our team and the cats in our care.
Thank You for Standing With Us
To everyone who nominated, voted, shared and supported Cat Action Team, thank you. This recognition would not have been possible without the people who believe in our work. Your support allows us to continue feeding, protecting and advocating for Cape Town’s feral cats. The award may carry Cat Action Team’s name, but it belongs to our entire community. Together, we will continue to show up. We will continue to fill bowls, provide care and give a voice to cats who cannot ask for help themselves.
For them, we keep going.
